Giulio Pellizzari capitano della Red Bull al Giro d’Italia. Evenepoel e Lipowitz al Tour

Giulio Pellizzari
Giulio Pellizzari will serve as captain for the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe team during the Giro d’Italia 2026. The climber from Marche, who finished sixth in 2025 but was burdened with domestique duties in the early stages of the Corsa Rosa, will share leadership responsibilities with the Australian Jai Hindley. This announcement was made in Mallorca, where the Red Bull team is in training camp. Pellizzari will have the opportunity to demonstrate his remarkable skills on Italian roads once again: last year, he also achieved his first professional victory in a stage of the Vuelta, where he ultimately secured second place in the young riders’ classification. The Red Bull team has also confirmed the continuation of Florian Lipowitz and Giulio Pellizzari in the squad, along with the promotion of Lorenzo Finn to the first team starting from 2027. Discussions are ongoing for long-term contracts for all three, though the exact duration has not been specified.

Evenepoel and Lipowitz at the Tour
The Red Bull team will place significant emphasis on the Tour, fielding all of its most accomplished riders. During the season’s opening press conference, the official announcement was made: Remco Evenepoel, Florian Lipowitz will participate in the Tour de France. This duo has the potential to be incredibly strong, aiming to challenge the dominance of Tadej Pogacar in recent seasons. Roglic is certain to compete in the Vuelta: on Spanish roads, the 36-year-old Slovenian will chase a historic fifth victory.
Evenepoel: “Declining Giro a painful choice”
Thus, Remco Evenepoel will not participate in the Giro d’Italia: “The decision to go or not was the point we debated the most, I really like the route. It’s not a ‘monstrous’ Giro, different from some we’ve seen in the past. There are certainly challenging stages, but it isn’t the toughest Giro route we’ve encountered recently. However, the World Championships in Canada will be very important for me, providing two significant opportunities to win titles, and since they are so far away, I think that’s a crucial reason for me to avoid making any reckless choices. Between the end of the Volta Valenciana and the beginning of the Volta a Catalunya, there are more than six weeks. We still need to evaluate what might be best in terms of scheduling; during that time, several WorldTour races are on the calendar such as the UAE Tour, Paris-Nice, and Tirreno-Adriatico, and I would like to compete in one of those.”
